How to clean a kitchen loofah sponge
The care routine matters as much as the material.
1. Rinse after each use
Remove visible food particles and rinse out dish soap. Do not use the same sponge for dishes and bathroom cleaning.
2. Let it dry between uses
Drain excess water and store it with airflow. A hanging loop or draining rack can help keep it away from standing water.
3. Follow product-specific cleaning instructions
Do not assume boiling, bleaching, machine washing or microwaving is suitable for every loofah product. Stitching and other components may need different care.
4. Replace when the condition changes
Replace a scrubber if it develops persistent odor, visible mold or damaged fibers. There is no universal replacement interval for every product and household.
A note on hygiene
Natural fibers are not inherently antibacterial. Keep cleaning tools separate from raw-food cleanup and follow your product’s care instructions.
